Evolution of Fiber Lasers by Specialty Optical Fibers

Abstract

Specialty optical fibers have contributed to the evolution of fiber lasers, especially in increasing output power, improving efficiency, and diversifying the oscillation wavelength. The authors introduce examples of specialty fibers for such fiber lasers as double clad fibers, non-circular fibers, photonic band gap fibers, photodarkening eliminated fibers, and a fiber-optic optical isolator using SRS (Stimulated Raman scattering).
