Evolution-generated communications in Digital Business Ecosystem

Abstract: This paper discusses a new approach to model a complex evolving system, a Digital Business Ecosystem (DBE). We present a geography-based two coupled networks model. The upper layer is the business network layer regarded as an information ecosystem with multiple evolving agents. The lower layer is the underlying P2P communication layer to support communications. The two networks in the system are modelled as evolving over time and interacting with each other. In the business ecosystem, agents exchange services … Show more

“…These actors interact with each other through buyer-seller relationships (Petrou, Gautam, Giannoutakis, 2006). According to Wang & Wilde (2008), digital business "intends to provide an open source distributed environment, where software components, services, applications and also business models are regarded as "digital species" that can interact with each other, reproduce and evolve according to laws of market selection" (p. 618). Nachira, Dini, Nicolai (2007) argue, that ecosystems "initiative aims at helping local economic actors become active players in globalization, 'valorizing' their local culture and vocations and enabling them to interact and create value networks at the global level" (p. 7).…”

“…The service with higher maturity can collaborate with services in different habitat. Wang et al presented a geography-based coupled network model [31] to describe the evolutionary of the digital business ecosystem. However, all of these works did not cover the correlations among services and treated the services as isolated components.…”

“…Macher Salam [15] et al introduced a five-layer service maturity model to suggest a stage based evolution of digital business ecosystem. Wang et al [16] presented a geography-based coupled network model to describe the evolutionary of the digital business ecosystem.
