Abstract: Neste estudo procuramos validar a escala Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Scale numa amostra de adolescentes portugueses. A dimensão Opiniõe… Show more

“…The same happens with specific samples, such as the INCOM Portuguese version applied to parents of children with chronic health conditions 14 , which also excluded the inverted items (items 5 and 11). In the adaptations in which item 11 was kept 13,15,48 , it presented a factor loading associated with the abilities dimension, different from what the origina l scale proposed (belonging to the opinions dimension), suggesting incompatibilities in its structure.…”

“…In addition, the adjustment indices for two factors presented satisfactory results together with the H-index and the evidence of quality and precision of the factors' scores estimates, indicating the applicability of the scale also to the clinica l context. 42 Other adaptations carried out for the German 11 , Portuguese [13][14] , Spanish 15 versions 16 removed item 11, along with item 5, which is also inverted, due to their factor loadings. Furthermore, the items exclusion favored the scale adjustment indices.…”

“…In the present study, the alpha coefficient for the Hedonic factor was .63, and for the Prudence factor was .70. (Gibbons & Buunk, 1999; adapted for Portuguese by Lins, Campos, Leite, Carvalho, Cardoso, & Natividade, 2016). This scale proposes to measure the individual differences in orientation for social comparison through two factors: Abilities and Opinions.…”
