Evidências científicas sobre a hepatite Delta no Brasil: revisão integrativa da literatura

Abstract: Objective: Describe the level of scientific evidence on infections by the hepatitis Delta virus (HDV) in Brazil. Methods: Integrative literature review, with research in the databases of the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information, Scientific Eletronic Library Online and Scopus, with analysis focusing on the leveling of the methodological rigor according to the model of Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt. “…HDV infection only occurs in humans already infected with HBV, often leading to the rapid development of serious liver conditions such as cirrhosis, hepatocellular cancer, and fulminant hepatitis. Despite these high endemic indicators in the north of the country, this condition is still neglected by health services 27 .…”

“…Belonging to the hepadnaviridae family with tropism for liver cells, and with humans as its natural host (2) , HBV has a genome composed by a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and a set of proteins that forms specific antigens, with emphasis to: the surface antigen (HBsAg), used as diagnostic reference; the e antigen (HBeAg), which is related to the viral replication activity; and the core antigen (HBcAg), which, through the immunoglobulins M and G (IgM e IgG), indicates infectionrelated temporality (6)(7) . HDV, in view of the complex structure of HBV, consists of a single open reading frame of ribonucleic acid (RNA) and needs HBsAg to infect cells and assemble new viral structures (8)(9) .…”
