“…We have previously shown that both plasma and CSF levels of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 are increased in AD and DLB patients (included in the Malmö Alzheimer Study) compared to healthy elders (6) and others have shown that ICAM-1 is both present in neuritic plaques and increased in cerebrovascular endothelium of AD patients (33). Furthermore, previous studies have shown that production of sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 are influenced by HA (57,58). When investigating the correlation between CSF HA levels and sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 CSF levels we found that only females in the control and AD, ADv groups showed a correlation between HA and sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1, whereas only males in the DLB group showed correlations between HA and the mentioned adhesion molecules.…”

“…Targeting HAS2 by an miRNA caused cellular senescence, suggesting a role of HA in skin aging [137]. On the other side, HA concentrations in extracellular and pericellular matrices was greatly reduced in senescent mesenchymal stem cells, mainly due to the decreased expression of HA synthases [138]. An HA-based compound inhibited fibroblast senescence induced by oxidative stress in vitro [139].…”

“…As a possible cause of this decreased expression, contaminating fibroblasts are found in bone marrow and express low levels of MSC markers; another possibility is that the expression level of MSC markers decreases during the long-term culture of human MSCs [23][24][25]. This decrease in expression indicates that long-term culturing induces changes in the expression of these markers; therefore, cmBMDCs may undergo a similar change in their expression pattern.…”
