[31,48,49] In the KTaO 3 crystal, the effective local restoring force, the depolarization field, [44] associated with displacements of Ta ions, is large enough and thus the ferroelectric phase transition is restricted. “…The linear χ1 electric susceptibility below the freezing temperature is independent of the frequency of the ac electric field, and increases from the value of χ1=1250 to the value of χ1=1685 at 4.2 K, owing to a net polarization. Comparing the value of χ1 at 4.2 K with that of KTaO 3 (χ1=3500) , one estimates the net polarization volume to consist of 48% of the total volume of the sample. The nonlinear χ2 and χ3 electric susceptibilities are hardly detectable below T g at moderate driving fields.…”
