Evidence Bearing on the Existence of a Rational Correspondence Between the Personality Typologies of Spranger and of Jung

Abstract: Evidence is presented from a factor analytic study of a large sample using scores based on the AVL Study of Values and the Myers‐Briggs Type Indicator, displaying a four‐dimensional, interlocking structure for the two instruments. The MBTI scores define a simple structure with respect to which the AVL scores exhibit a bi‐polar structure. The AVL scores may be regarded as depending on the third‐order interaction of the four basic dimensions. Both the interlocking form of structure and a significant proportion o… Show more

Some data also exist concerning the Indicator's utility in predicting school performance and other socially important variables.…”

“…With the results of the inventory, students may recognize that the curriculum content may cause learning difficulties and lessen enjoyment of the course. Studies based on the MBTI have shown to accurately predict whether students will adjust to their roles in specific educational fields (Saunders, 1960).…”

“…It should be noted that regression analysis controlling for the effect of demographic variables on the above relationships (Peters & Champoux, 1979;Saunders, 1956;Zedeck, 1971) was carried out and showed the type variables to retain their importance. The relationships could not be explained by the demographic variables.…”
