Evidence‐based Counselling for Vasectomy

Abstract: SUMMARYCouples requesting vasectomy need to be properly counselled. Vasectomy is generally safe but it can fail in up to 6% of cases. Reversal is possible but not always successful. Most men are azoospermic six weeks after vasectomy. They must be warned that the procedure may have to be repeated if there are persistent motile sperm in their post‐vasectomy semen analysis.
