Evaluation to Select Tomato Genotypes with Big Fruit and Verification of Genetic Advance

Abstract: Selection progress is one of the parameters of success in a plant breeding program. Selection with a pedigree approach made in early generation is intended to increase the mean value and reduce the variance of the selected population. This study aimed to determine the selection response from F2 to F3 in different locations, and to obtain transgressive segregant genotypes. The study was conducted from August 2018 to April 2019 at the IPB Tajur II Experimental Field (300 m asl), Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. The … Show more

“…To achieve soybean self-sufficiency, soybean productivity needs to be increased through plant breeding to develop new superior varieties [11]. The development of new superior varieties can be achieved through various methods including artificial crossing [12,13], mutation induction [14][15][16][17], local variety purification [18], and utilization of introduced varieties [19].…”

“…Genetic and environmental factors influence variations in the elements accumulation in soybean seeds [9][10][11]. The diversity of soybean genotypes based on seed coat color, which is caused by genetic factors, have different uptake, transport, storage, and remobilization proceses in accumulating elements in seeds [12].…”
