Evaluation of weed control efficacy and crop safety of the new HPPD-inhibiting herbicide-QYR301

Abstract: QYR301, 1,3-Dimethyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid 4-[2-chloro-3-(3,5-dimethyl-pyrazol-1-ylmethyl)-4-methanesulfonyl-benzoyl]-2,5-dimethyl-2H-pyrazol-3-yl ester, is a novel HPPD-inhibiting herbicide and was evaluated to provide a reference for post-emergence (POST) application under greenhouse and field conditions. The crop safety (180 and 360 g active ingredient (a.i.) ha−1 treatments) experiment revealed that wheat, paddy, garlic and corn were the only four crops without injury at both examined herbicide rat… Show more

“…Tannins, phytic acid and glucosinolates are the main anti-nutrients in DLF ( Amaglo et al, 2010 ; Ogbe and Affiku, 2011 ; Chodur et al, 2018 ). Tannins can precipitate proteins, amino acids, alkaloids and other organic molecules in aqueous solution, which hinder the absorption of some nutrients due to complexation.…”

“…Research shows that effective weed control at this stage is, in fact, essential to increased yield in some crops [2]. In recent times, effective weed control relies on the use of chemical weed controlsuch as herbicides with different sites of actionas they can kill from 90 to 99% of targeted weeds [3], [4]. Often, the drawback and most criticized aspect of chemical weed control as a current cropping practice is their apparent harmfulness to the environment.…”

“…Topramezone is a 4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) inhibitor and prevents the biosynthesis of carotenoid that protects chlorophyll molecules from dangerous UV rays and excess light (Grossmann and Ehrhardt, 2007). There is nothing to prevent sunlight from penetrating into the leaves, which results in the photo-oxidation of chlorophyll molecules (Wang et al 2018).…”
