Aim: Factors such as the low pH of acidic foods and beverages can affect long-term clinical success of restorative materials in the oral cavity. The aim of this study was to compare the solubility of Bulk-fill and Conventional Nano-Hybrid Resin Based Composites (RBCs) in different solutions. Material and Methods: A total of 60 cylindrical specimens were prepared from two RBCs (Tetric N-Ceram, Tetric N-Ceram Bulk-fill) and their constant weight was measured. The specimens were divided into six groups ( N = 10) in accordance with RBC type and pH solution (solution 1, 2, 3 with pH = 2.5, 5, 7, respectively), and were immersed in desired solutions for 30 days. Then they were weighed again and solubility levels of the specimens were calculated according to ISO 4049. Data were analysed by two-way ANOVA. The test power was considered at 80%. Results: The type of RBC had no significant effect on solubility; while the effect of PH was significant. Solution 1 caused significantly the highest solubility. No statistically significant differences were found among other groups. Conclusions: Considering the limitations of the laboratory investigations, it was concluded that solubility rate of Bulk-fill and Conventional RBCs was higher in solutions with lower pH. There was no difference among the RBCs. However, the solubility rates of all groups are within the clinically normal range.

The purpose was to investigate the surface characteristics of various resin-based materials by immersing in probiotic beverages. A total of 420 disc-shaped samples (5 mm Â 2 mm) were prepared from resin-based composites. Samples were divided into four groups and immersed for 10 min/day for 1 month in either a probiotic sachet, kefir, kombucha, or artificial saliva (control). Surface roughness was measured at baseline and 1 month. One sample of each of the tested materials was examined under nanoindentation to evaluate the reduced elasticity modulus and nanohardness scores. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to compare surface differences. Data were analyzed statistically using one-way ANOVA test and the significance was set at p < .05. The lowest roughness scores were observed in Z250, Estelite Bulk Fill, and HRi ENA in most of the test groups. Among conventional composites, Z250 group had the highest nanohardness and elasticity modulus scores.Among bulk-fill composites, Estelite Bulk Fill Flow had the lowest surface roughness after immersion in probiotic beverages and the highest nanohardness values. Reveal HD, as a bulk-fill group showed higher surface roughness and considerably lower nanohardness and elasticity modulus scores. Maximum height levels of samples were recorded. SEM images revealed voids and microcracks on the surfaces of test materials. Dentists may prefer Z250 as microhybrid and Estelite Bulk Fill Flow as bulk-fill composites for the restorations of patients who consume gut-friendly drinks regularly. When there are various types of materials, nanoindentation is a useful method for evaluating surface alterations and sensible comparisons.

Aim: To evaluate the Surface Roughness of Bis-GMA Free Resin Composite and Bis-GMA Containing Resin Composite.Material and Methods: Two resin composites were assessed, Bis-GMA free composite (Admira Fusion) and Bis-GMA containing composite (Grandio). A total of 80 resin composite specimens were prepared in a Teflon mold (10 mm x 2 mm), categorized into two groups of (40 specimens) each was tested based on the type of resin composite, each group was categorized into 4 subgroups based on tested immersion solutions (n=10). Immersion solution used were artificial saliva, Coffee, Coca-Cola, and Tea. Readings of surface roughness (Ra) was obtained by profilometer after 24 hours, 2 weeks and one month of exposure to respective solutions. Results:In terms of statistical significance, there was no difference between Bis-GMA Free Resin Composite and Bis-GMA Containing Resin Composite. Specimens immersed in cola showed the highest mean value of surface roughness among the different tested solutions. Conclusion:Both tested types of resin composite have similar surface roughness behavior. All tested storage solutions caused surface roughness except artificial saliva. Cola caused marked surface roughness in both resin composites. Surface roughness was time-dependent, increasing with the passage of time.
