Evaluation of treatment results of patients with acute gastrointestinal bleeding due to dieulafoy's lesion admitted to emergency department

Abstract: AMAÇDieulafoy lezyonu (DL) normal mukoza ile çevrili mukozal bir yırtık alanından geniş, pulsatil bir arteryel damarın dışa-rıya açılımı sonucu gelişen nadir bir gastrointestinal sistem (GİS) kanaması nedenidir. Show more

“…It is generally seen in elderly, male patients with multiple comorbidities and having medications, like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin, and warfarin (5, 6). Although DL has been seen between 20 months and 93 years, the mean age is over 50 years (6,7). DL is seen more in men than women.…”

“…Surgical treatment of DL is significantly decreased in time due to efficient therapeutic role of endoscopic management with satisfactory clinical outcomes. Recent studies have demonstrated that surgical treatment is required only in 4-8% of patients [12]. Nowadays, surgery is required for recurrent lesions after angiographic and endoscopic treatment failure.…”

“…It is uncommon in jejunum, ileum, colon, and rectum (4). DL was observed to be associated with the usage of NSAIDs or anticoagulants, or conditions of alcoholism, stress, or cardiac/pulmonary failure in the elderly (4,5). Mucosal erosion or ischemic injury, which is possibly related to aging and cardiovascular diseases, further weakens the overlying mucosa.…”
