A 57-year-old man developed leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, anaemia, skin rash, alopecia, nail changes and peripheral neuropathy during treatment with paclitaxel [nab-paclitaxel] and gemcitabine [routes not stated] while he was enrolled in metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma clinical trial.The man had been diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer. He started receiving first line chemotherapy with paclitaxel at a dose of 125 mg/m 2 and gemcitabine at a dose of 1,000 mg/m 2 , both administered on days 1, 8, 15, 29, 36 and 43 of a 56 day cycle with subsequent cycles on days 1, 8, 15 of a 28 day cycle. He developed grade 3 leukopenia during cycle 2. Paclitaxel dose was reduced to 100 mg/m 2 and gemcitabine dose was reduced to 800 mg/m 2 . He received treatment with granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, but he again developed grade 3 leukopenia. Therefore, dose was further reduced to 75 mg/m 2 for paclitaxel and 600 mg/m 2 for gemcitabine. He also developed grade 1 thrombocytopenia, grade 2 anaemia, alopecia, skin rash, peripheral neuropathy and nail changes.The man had received a total of 12 cycles of chemotherapy. Later, he started second line chemotherapy as his pancreatic adenocarcinoma progressed. Subsequently, he developed peritoneal carcinomatosis and consecutive intestinal obstruction.
