Evaluation of the Thermal Stabilization Effect of the Bis (Mercaptoethanol Oleate) Dimethyl Tin on Polyvinyl Chloride

Abstract: Bis (mercaptoethanol oleate) dimethyl tin was synthesized and added to polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with various ratios. Specimens were prepared by mixing and rolling through a double-roller mixer, and their static thermal stabilities were estimated by the oven static thermal aging experiments. The influence of the bis (mercaptoethanol oleate) dimethyl tin on the dynamic thermal stability of PVC was tested through a haack torque rheometer (HAAKE PolyLab QC). The tensile strength and rate of elongation at break of … Show more

“…The dynamic thermal stability time of PVC with Zn(Arg)(St) is slightly shorter than that of PVC with Zn(Arg) 2 . Importantly, compared with other thermal stabilizers reported, 30,31 Zn(Arg)(St) is outstanding as a one‐component thermal stabilizer. The reason is that Zn(Arg)(St) not only has the strong ability to replace the unstable chlorine atoms in the PVC chains, but also could absorb the HCl produced by PVC degradation after the replacement.…”
