Evaluation of the Role of hsa-mir-124 in Predicting Clinical Outcome in Breast Invasive Carcinoma Based on Bioinformatics Analysis

Abstract: Purpose. Breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA) is the most common malignant tumor. MiR-124 plays a tumor-suppressive role in human cancer. However, the clinical significance of miR-124 in BRCA remains unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of hsa-mir-124 expression and the clinicopathological characteristics in BRCA using database analysis. Methods. The clinical data and expression profiles of hsa-mir-124 were obtained from the cancer genome atlas for BRCA (TCGA_BRCA). Then, the prognostic v… Show more

“…hsa‐miR‐124 is often methylated in hepatocellular carcinoma and gastric cancer 50,53 . Abnormal hsa‐miR‐124 expression adversely impacts clinical outcomes, consistent with existing literature 49,54,55 . Survival analysis of factors in the ceRNA network substantiates the prognostic significance of lncRNAs AC016738.4 and RP11‐770J1.4.…”

“…50,53 Abnormal hsa-miR-124 expression adversely impacts clinical outcomes, consistent with existing literature. 49,54,55 Survival analysis of factors in the ceRNA network substantiates the prognostic significance of lncRNAs AC016738.4 and RP11-770J1.4. Specifically, overexpression of lncRNA AC016738.4 is linked to diminished OS and relapse-free survival times in esophageal cancer, 56 establishing its potential as a biomarker for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.…”

“…There was a negative association between has-mir-124-1 and has-mir-124-2, has-mir-124-3 and lymph node metastasis. Overall, has-mir-124 was associated with worse clinical outcomes and could be used as a biomarker for BRCA [83].…”
