Carbon Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic (CFRTP) is drawing attention, currently in practical use, to shorten a manufacturing time and to reduce manufacturing cost. Though investigation for utilizing CFRTP is conducted flourishingly, the manufacturing method of CFRTP having enough performance has not been established yet. High viscosity of thermoplastic matrix disturbs good molding. The effective intermediate material is necessary. In this report, we used UD tape (SHINDO, TP CA143) that is slit from poly-amid film impregnated carbon fiber spread tow. We tried to produce CFRTP tube by using hot-press processing prepreg that is braided by these UD tapes. Braided prepreg consists of braiding yarns and axial yarns. Determination of the mechanical properties of a composite structure is essential to be applied in accordance with its requirements. We prepared three kinds of samples with different numbers of axial yarn and bending properties of CFRTP were determined by bending tests. Bending strength was proportional to the number of axial yarn and a small number of axial yarns showed ductile fracture, whereas a large number of axial yarns showed brittle fracture.
