Abstract:Microemulsions improve the transdermal delivery of several drugs over conventional topical preparations such as emulsions and gels: enhanced drug solubilization, increased skin flux, and decreased diffusion coefficient. Microemulsion-based systems find significant improvement in the topical delivery of antifungals.
