“…At the middle stage, the velocity is higher (approximately 3.5 × 10 5 m s −1 ). A similar velocity is also obtained in other experiments [28,44] and simulations [41,43]. The length of the ionization wave rapidly rises at first and increases more slowly at the end of the first stage.…”

“…In our previous study, it is deduced by a theoretical derivation that the first current spike is due to discharge propagation in the form of ionization wave at a certain distance from the HV electrode, while the second current spike is caused by the repeated re-ignition of the SDBD on the area covered before by the ionization wave [21]. The evolution of electron density in section 4.2 has proved this deduction, and the first discharge channel is the natural ionization wave [44]. Although the ionization wave has been observed in the experiment by Huang et al in ns SDBD in Ar [28], it is proved by simulation under a more complicated condition with sophisticated particles and reactions in the air in this paper.…”

“…The intensity-ratio method was applied also to plasmas in other gas mixtures, also excluding nitrogen, i.e. utilizing different collision-radiative schemes for electric field or electron temperature determination, such as for argon, helium and mixtures [29,[77][78][79][80][81].…”

“…In [112], a model was created that made it possible to apply this approach to the diagnosis of a pre-breakdown IW. With its help, the experimental data presented in Fig.…”
