Evaluation of the effi ciency of the activity of the register of potential donors of hematopoietic stem cells

Abstract: Introduction. One of the problems in providing Russian transplant clinics with unrelated hematopoietic steam cells (HSCs) is the lack of an interaction scheme “Registry — HSC collection center — Transplant center”. In order to ensure effective operation at the donor activation stage, registries need regulated and stable cooperation with the Collection center with a clear distribution of duties and responsibilities for both parties. Aim: to evaluate the effectiveness of the Kirov Registry.Materials and methods.… Show more

“…HLA (HLA) genes play a central role in immunity and are responsible for graft rejection in HSCT 1–3 . The best compatible donor is a fully HLA‐identical sibling, but in Russia, only about 10%–20% of patients have such kind of donor 4,5 . For patients lacking a genotypically HLA‐matched sibling, an unrelated HSCT is proposed 6 …”

“…A register of potential donors of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) was organized based on the federal network of plasma centers of the Russian Medical Research and Production Center "Rosplasma" of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia, Kirov, in 2009. Recruitment of potential HSC donors was fulfilled in two main ways: working with regular plasma donors and holding mass actions in educational organizations, institutions and large enterprises [5].…”
