“…Besides, the mean value of AL in the current study is similar to a previous study that measured the axial length after SB [ 36 ], which may imply that the post-SB axial length is around this value. The numerically lower IOP in the operated eyes may be because the postoperative IOP after SB often declined to a normal range within one week [ 37 ], and this phenomenon may also indicate that patients with glaucoma are safe to receive SB, which is similar to previous findings [ 38 ].…”

“…The anterior segment parameters including AL, ACD, AOD, and TISA get altered from SB as the lens-iris diaphragm moves anteriorly, and this may cause a rise in IOP from narrowing of anterior chamber angle. Though a change in these parameters may affect the RNFL thickness, however, this has been rarely studied in the past [27]. In our study, the scleral buckle at 8-10 mm from limbus brought about an irregular change in eye geometry.…”

“…Several complications may occur in the posterior segment after SB procedures, such as postoperative abscess formation, extrusion of buckling materials, cystoid macular edema, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, recurrent retinal detachment and choroidal detachment [5]. Concerning the anterior segment, the narrowing of iridocorneal angle may develop after SB [5, 6] and the alterations of corneal curvature, sensitivity and refractive status have also been reported [5, 7].…”
