The study was undertaken to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of Ozone, E. Coli LPS, Autologous plasma, Neem oil, and Lugol’s iodine in 100 infectious repeat breeder cows. The animals were divided in 5 different groups viz. Group-I, Group-II, Group-III, Group-IV and Group-V treated with Ozone @ 55µg/ml in 60ml distilled water, E. Coli LPS @100mcg in 30 ml sterile PBS, Autologous plasma @ 30 ml, Neem oil @ 10µg/ml in 30 ml distilled water, Lugol’s iodine 1:25 in 30ml normal saline, intrauterine route in 20 cases, respectively, Group-V of 20 animals was kept as control. AI was done in recovered cases. On follow up, recovery rate in treatment group were found as 75.00, 80.00, 65.00, 75.00 and 50.00 per cent in groups I to V, respectively. The conception rate was found as 68.42, 73.68, 55.00, 63.15 and 53.33 per cent in cows in Group-I to V, respectively. Pregnancy rate was observed that 65.00, 70.00, 50.00, 60.00 and 40.00 per cent cows from groups I to V, respectively. On conclusion, infectious repeat breeder cows treated with E. Coli LPS showed highest recovery rate, conception rate and pregnancy rate than the other treatment groups in this research study.

Population declines of Gyps vultures across the Indian subcontinent were caused by unintentional poisoning by the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac. Subsequently, a number of other NSAIDs have been identified as toxic to vultures, while one, meloxicam, is safe at concentrations likely to be encountered by vultures in the wild. Other vulture-safe drugs need to be identified to reduce the use of those toxic to vultures. We report on safety-testing experiments on the NSAID tolfenamic acid on captive vultures of three Gyps species, all of which are susceptible to diclofenac poisoning. Firstly, we estimated the maximum level of exposure (MLE) of wild vultures and gave this dose to 38 Near Threatened G. himalayensis by oral gavage, with 15 control birds dosed with benzyl alcohol (the carrier solution for tolfenamic acid). Two birds given tolfenamic acid died with elevated uric acid levels and severe visceral gout, while the remainder showed no adverse clinical or biochemical signs. Secondly, four G. himalayensis were fed tissues from water buffaloes which had been treated with double the recommended veterinary dose of tolfenamic acid prior to death and compared to two birds fed uncontaminated tissue; none suffered any clinical effects. Finally, two captive Critically Endangered vultures, one G. bengalensis and one G. Indicus, were given the MLE dose by gavage and compared to two control birds; again, none suffered any clinical effects. The death of two G. himalayensis may have been an anomaly due to i) the high dose level used and ii) the high ambient temperatures at the time of the experiment. Tolfenamic acid is likely to be safe to Gyps vultures at concentrations encountered by wild birds and could therefore be promoted as a safe alternative to toxic NSAIDs. It is manufactured in the region, and is increasingly being used to treat livestock.

“…Recently, there has been a trend towards maximizing the efficacy of GnRH in treating repeat breeders by administering it along with P 4 , by injection or inserting progesterone-releasing intravaginal devices (PRID) to support early embryonic development while using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandin F2-alpha (PGF 2α ). Studies have found that combined protocols involving GnRH, exogenous P 4 , and tolfenamic acid [ 51 ] or meloxicam [ 52 ] effectively treat repeat breeders. These protocols support P 4 concentrations and increase conception rates by up to six times compared to the control group.…”

The administration of GnRH and its agonists benefits various aspects of bovine reproductive programs, encompassing physiological stages such as estrous synchronization, post-insemination, pregnancy, and the postpartum period. The positive impact of GnRH administration in overcoming challenges like repeat breeder cows, early embryonic loss prevention, and the management of cystic ovarian disease (COD) is thoroughly surveyed. Furthermore, this review focuses on the significance of GnRH administration during the postpartum period, its role in ovulation induction, and how it enhances the productivity of embryo transfer (ET) programs. An emerging feature of this field is introduced, focusing on nano-drug delivery systems for GnRH agonists, and the potential benefits that may arise from such advancements are highlighted. While this review offers valuable insights into various applications of GnRH in bovine reproduction, it emphasizes the crucial need for further research and development in this field to advance reproductive efficiency and health management in dairy cattle.
