Evaluation of the biological activities of leaf and bark extracts of Ficus platiphylla Delile, a medicinal plant used in Mali

Abstract: Leaves and barks of Ficus platiphylla are used in traditional medicine in western Africa for treating bacterial infections. The aim of this work was to screen the biological activities of extracts of the plant. Three common bacterial strains were used in this study. The antiradical and antibacterial activities were assessed respectively by spectrophotometric and agar diffusion methods. The bark and leaves are very rich in dry matter, ash and as well as proteins and carbohydrates. Ethyl acetate was the best sol… Show more

“…The green tea extracts with the highest total phenolic content showed the best antioxidant activities. According to several authors, there is a correlation between the content of total phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity (Dembélé et al, 2020;Konaré et al, 2020;Ramírez-Aristizabal et al, 2017;Safdar et al, 2016). Also, according to Horžić et al (2009), the antioxidant capacity of tea is not related only to one or a few phytochemical compounds present in plants, but is widely distributed among a series of phenolic compounds, including catechins.…”
