Evaluation of Technical Condition and Durability of Wooden Shaft Guides with Application of Non-Destructive and Semi-Destructive Testing Methods

Abstract: This article addresses the issue of the durability of mining shaft equipment elements. Shafts as a transport route are one of the most exploited parts of a mine. Consequently, their components are exposed to high mechanical stresses, which cause the deterioration of their mechanical properties. In the case of shafts with timber components, elements such as the shaft guides are evaluated on a purely macroscopic basis and are often unnecessarily replaced. This paper presents the possibilities for the application… Show more

“…Manuscripts A successful completion of a construction project means that it is finished within the cost budget [16,30], in time [13,17], according to the quality plan [33,35], is delivered safely [5,12] and with the use of modern effective technologies [23,36]. Much of the work related to facility building involves environmental impact assessment [39,41,42], selection of the best building materials [27], optimization of energy efficiency [25,34,38] and proper management of the life cycle of the facility [26,29]. The execution of building projects, even those perfectly planned and organized, carries a risk of unforeseen problems and events which can delay the works and then result in their untimely completion.…”

“…It is necessary to monitor the technical condition of the building, diagnose damage and carry out ongoing repair work [4][5][6]. The proper planning of refurbishment work should result from an analysis of repair needs [7][8][9][10]. Decision making related to the selection of the type, scope and date of building repairs is very problematic for managers [11,12].…”
