The aims of this study were to define determinant factors that affected throwing actions used to score goals in handball, and to study the effectiveness of throwing actions and their relationships with different factors during their use, such as: the throwing distance, type of arm build, type of throw, whether it is done while jumping or while supported, the last supporting foot and the previous step cycle, as well as their relationship with the final score of the game in elite male handball competitions. A total of 1049 shots from 24 matches in the 2018/19/20 International Men’s Handball Championship were analysed. The results show that distance is relevant in the effectiveness of throwing, setting the build up, throwing while supported or jumping, the type of throwing, the type of steps cycle used and the supporting foot. This seems to indicate that the determining factor that affects a throw is distance.

Introduction: Representative learning design is a key feature of the theory of ecological dynamics, conceptualising how task constraints can be manipulated in training designs to help athletes selfregulate during their interactions with information-rich performance environments. Implementation of analytical methodologies can support representative designs of practice environments by practitioners recording how interacting constraints influence events, that emerge under performance conditions. To determine key task constraints on kicking skill performance, the extent to which interactions of constraints differ in prevalence and influence on kicking skills was investigated across competition tiers in Australian Football (AF).Method: A data sample of kicks (n = 29,153) was collected during junior, state-level and national league matches. Key task constraints were recorded for each kick, with performance outcome recorded as effective or ineffective. Rules were based on frequency and strength of associations between constraints and kick outcomes, generated using the Apriori algorithm.Results: Univariate analysis revealed that low kicking effectiveness was associated with physical pressure (37%), whereas high efficiency emerged when kicking to an open target (70%). Betweencompetition comparisons showed differences in constraint interactions through seven unique rules and differences in confidence levels in shared rules.Discussion: Results showed how understanding of key constraints interactions, and prevalence during competitive performance, can be used to inform representative learning designs in athlete training programmes. Findings can be used to specify how the competitive performance environment differs between competition tiers, supporting the specification of information in training designs, representative of different performance levels.

Background and Study Aim. The aim of the study was to expand knowledge of the efficiency of actions from top-level futsal teams. Goalkeepers’ activity, effectiveness and reliability were estimated with a view to implementing the objectives of the game in offence and defence and depending on the changing match status. Material and Methods. Data about the game were registered on a self-developed observation sheet. 23 goalkeepers participating in 31 matches of the World and the European Championships and the UEFA Futsal Cup played in the years 2012–2015 were observed. Results. It was found that actions to gain the playfield with the ball and to prevent a loss of a goal dominated in futsal goalkeepers’ both when drawing as well as winning and losing game and that game status does not determine the style of play of the goalkeeper. Only in nine of the 60 types of actions examined significant differences in activity were fund. Conclusions. The unequivocal claim that the current score during the competition determines the style of the futsal goalkeeper’s game (the frequency of taking actions in the game characteristic of his position), is unauthorized at this stage of research. The obtained significant differences in his activity in nine types of actions constitute only a small percentage (15%) of all his skills in the game. .
