Dehesas constitute one of the most relevant and traditional landscapes of the Extremadura region. However, the supremacy given to the economic–productive functionality of agricultural territories over environmental and cultural sustainability leads to the devaluation and neglect of the heritage manifestations of the rural world. Based on this premise, this study aimed to understand the current situation of some of the traditional trades of the Extremadura pasture, assessing the benefits of their conservation and determining the possible threats that hinder their preservation. In addition, it sought to articulate a proposal for solutions aimed at safeguarding them. To this end, the Delphi method was used, and 20 experts were interviewed in depth, mainly cork and charcoal extractors. The results corroborate the existence of various problems faced by the traditional trades, which compromise the conservation of the identity of the rural population and the sustainability of the dehesa. To mitigate these tensions, it was concluded that there is a need to disseminate the heritage of the dehesa through educational and agrotourism experiences to promote an increase in tourist awareness, revalue ancestral knowledge, and contribute to the conservation of intangible assets.

The three states that border the Black Sea benefit from an important potential for tourism and consider the development of this sector to be a major objective. Nonetheless, they face environmental risks. Tourism does not have a neutral impact on the ecosystem. We evaluated tourism sustainability for three states bordering the Black Sea, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. We used a longitudinal data analysis applied to five variables for the period between 2005 and 2020. The data were taken from the World Bank website. The results show that tourism receipts significantly influence the environment. For all three countries, the total receipts from international tourism are unsustainable, while the receipts for travel items are sustainable. Sustainability factors are different for each country. The international tourism expenditures for Bulgaria, the total receipts for Romania and the receipts for travel items for Turkey are sustainable. In Bulgaria, the receipts from international tourism contribute to higher greenhouse gas emissions, i.e., negative environmental impact. In Romania and Turkey, the number of arrivals has the same impact. No sustainable tourism model could be identified for the three countries. Tourism activity was found to be sustainable only due to the receipts for travel items, that is, indirectly, from tourism-related activities.

This paper first determines the research method of rural tourism and the selection of research objects and carries out the corresponding pre-processing operation for the data. Secondly, the spatial distribution characteristics of key villages of rural tourism are analyzed by using the nearest neighbor index, standard deviation ellipse, geographic concentration index and geographic detector so as to understand the development of rural tourism in the five regions of east, west, south, north and central. The spatial clustering structure of key villages in rural tourism is calculated again using the fractal model to explore grid aggregation and correlation of high-quality development in rural tourism. From the spatial distribution characteristics, the nearest neighbor index of the southern region is 0.838, showing an aggregation-random distribution pattern, and the standard deviation ellipse of the southern region is 51.67°. From the spatial clustering structure, the aggregation dimension of the southern region is 0.485, and the correlation dimension of the four regions of east, west, south, north and south is relatively close to that of highway accessibility, for example. Thus, rural tourism in the context of the Internet needs to further strengthen infrastructure construction, enhance the means of training high-quality personnel, build diversified marketing channels, and realize the rural revitalization strategy to boost rural tourism.
