Evaluation of Stages of Nano-CMM

Abstract: The Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) are widely used for the three-dimensional measurements of workpieces. For solving the limits and the drawbacks of the traditional CMMs, we have started developing nano-CMM that measures three dimensional parts in nanometer resolution. In this article, we evaluate the repeatability and the straightness of stages of nano-CMM.

“…The main requirements of the measurement include large measurement scale, high accuracy, good dynamics, well portable and handy extensibility. The traditional large-scale coordinate measuring technology mainly includes: coordinate measuring machine (CMM), 1 , 2 double electronic theodolite measurement system, 3 5 joint arm coordinate measurement system, 6 8 laser tracker, 9 , 10 and flow 3D scanning measurement system 11 . Although the accuracy of the CMM is very high, the contact measurement method and small measurement range limits its application in large scale measurement.…”
