Evaluation of Silicosis, Asthma, and COPD Among Sand and Gravel and Stone Surface Mine Workers

Abstract

Despite the absence of cases of silicosis, findings of increased current asthma, association of COPD and seeing a doctor for shortness of breath with duration of work, and the presence of obstructive changes in some non-smokers suggests the potential for adverse respiratory effects in the surface sand and gravel industry.
