Evaluation of Several Free Transformation Enthalpies Occurring in AlZn Alloys

Abstract

From the course of the cl-cl' miscibility gap, the chemical potentials p i ( i = Al, Zn) of the A1 and Zn atoms in the f.c.c. solid solution of both sorts of atoms, the free enthalpy of mixing gmix as well as several free transformation enthalpies belonging to the sequence of phases observed in the Al-Zn system are evaluated. The method applied may be also used for other binary systems. The results obtained contribute to understand the experimentally observed features of the structure changes in Al-Zn alloys.Aus dem Verlauf der cl-cl'-Mischungsliicke werden die chemischen Potentiale pi ( i = Al, Zn) der Al-und Zn-Atome in der festen k.f.z.-Losung beider Atomsorten, die freie Mischungsenthalpie gmix als auch einige freie Transformationsenthalpien, die aus der Sicht der im AlZn-System beobachteten Phasensequenzen interessant sind, abgeschatzt. Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse tragen dazu bei, experimentell beobachtete Merkmale der Strukturinderungen in A1-Zn-Legierungen zu verstehen.
