Evaluation of CO2‐philicity and thickening capability of multichain poly(ether‐carbonate) with assistance of molecular simulations

Abstract: Phenyl-centered tri-chain poly(ether-carbonate) (TMA-PEC), phenyl-centered double-chain poly(ether-carbonate) (TPA-PEC), and phenyl-centered fourchain poly(ether-carbonate) (TFA-PEC) were synthesized to act as CO 2 thickener. Their solubility in CO 2 was measured by cloud point pressure. In order

“…(2020) . Chen et al. (2020) report on CO 2 thickening by poly ether carbonates and find CO 2 viscosity to increase by a factor of 11 and 3.9 by addition of 0.95 wt% of phenyl-centered four-chain poly (ether-carbonate) and 0.72 wt% phenyl-centered tri-chain poly (ether-carbonate), respectively, at P = 30 MPa and T = 308 K. Ether group has one oxygen atom directly connected to an alkyl group.…”
