Evaluation Of Resonant Modes In Cascaded Holographic System

Abstract

Resonant modes of cascaded Fourier holograms are found with the Prony method. Lowest order symmetric eigenmode is nearly gaussian wave for two types of holographic record considered.Mode inversion is observed, nevertheless higher modes of propagation can be easily discriminated. ProblemVarious cascaded systems of diffracting screens and the resulting problem of multiple diffraction arise in many physical situations. Perhaps the best known cases are 1/ developing of a resonant mode in a Fabry -Perot resonator 2/ guiding and focusing the electromagnetic wave due to diffraction Cascaded holograms maks up another example of a periodic system of diffracting screens. The read -out beam propagating in such a system 4.s usually accompanied by the changes of intensity distribution across the hologram area. However, reproducing the read -out beam shape in subsequent hologram planes is desirable, as it would result in images of a very similar reconstruction quality.The best suited read -out beam entering the cascade should be therefore a resonant mode of the system.
