Evaluation of Research Trends in Knowledge Management: A Hybrid Analysis through Burst Detection and Text Clustering

Abstract: This paper aims to analyze the content of validated journal articles related to Knowledge Management (KM) in more than 18,000 papers of the Web of Science (WoS) database and then provide the most recent specific trends in KM field using text mining and burst detection to help researchers invest in the most challenging and fruitful areas of KM research domain. The method for finding the recent trend of KM includes the following steps: Conducting searches and collecting the publication data from WoS; using a hyb… Show more

“…Nevertheless, the centrality and degree metrics were high in USA rather than in other countries, showing that this country had the most contribution in the network because a powerful centrality has a great impact on the information flow ( 36 ). Burstiness shows the rate of change in a particular period of time ( 31 ). The high value of burst metric in Saudi Arabia may imply the outbreak of MERS and change in publication and citation behavior, which finally resulted in an increase in this metric.…”

“…In CiteSpace, burst detection is based on Kleinberg’s algorithm, which measures sudden increases in the amount of the data ( Sohrabi et al, 2019 ). This indicator identifies an active research area by examining whether a publication or an author keyword has attracted extraordinary interest within its scientific community or whether an entity (such as an author, an institution, or a country) has published a significant amount of articles in a short period of time.…”

“…Researchers carried out a variety of literature reviews related to knowledge management, encompassing numerous topics. Sohrabi et al [27] analysed knowledge management-related papers and discovered that the technology and KM processes perspectives had gained increasing attention in recent years. Rokhman et al [28] reviewed the use of ontology in knowledge management, specifically in the academic domain, by looking into the type of ontology that has been made to support knowledge management in academic organization and the knowledge management process that uses the ontology.…”
