Abstract: Pseudothrombocytopenia (PTCP) is a phenomenon in which platelet aggregation occurs in vitro when an anticoagulant such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is used in a blood sample, causing automated cell counters (ACC) to calculate a lower platelet count than the actual count.
