Evaluation of Optical Properties of Ag, Cu, and Co Nanoparticles Synthesized in Organic Medium

Abstract: The surface plasmon resonance evaluation of colloidal metal nanoparticles, synthesized in organic medium, is reported in this work. Metal salts were dissolved in dioxane/AOT solution and reduced by hydrazine hydrate under vigorous stirring. Optical properties of obtained colloidal nanoparticles were investigated by UV VIS spectroscopy. Theoretical predictions of optical properties of metal nanoparticles were made by means of the Mie theory and the Drude free-electron model. Geometrical parameters and distribut… Show more

“…However, because of high damping and interband transition, the Mie theory is recognized to be insufficient to properly evaluate the SPR wavelength for Co NPs. [35] Low wavenumber Raman studies Figure 3 shows a typical low wavenumber Raman spectrum obtained at room temperature for Co NPs self-organized on a silicon wafer. According to Lamb's theory, [14] the vibration modes of a free elastic sphere are described with the angular quantum momentum number l. From the selection rules, established in reference, [15] Raman active modes are characterized by an even quantum number.…”

“…In this regard, Copper nanoparticles usually have a characteristic resonance band in the range 560 nm-570 nm [38]; this band is shifted toward longer wavelengths in case of larger particles [38], which toke place in this case.…”
