Evaluation of Noise Levels in Flour Factories in Terms of Occupational Health and Safety

Abstract

According to the Ministery of Labor and Social Security; 10% of occupational diseases are defined as noise-induced hearing loss. Flour factories are workplaces where physical risk factors such as noise are experienced due to their processes. Necessary measures should be taken to reduce or eliminate negative consequences for human health. Noise exposure of workers in two flour mills to be measured in pneumatic, sieve, purifier and roller units selected for this purpose. These measurement studies carried out according to the TS EN ISO 9612 standard; task-based metrics. As a result of these measurements, the daily noise exposure value in all units where measurements were made was above the exposure limit value in the legal legislation. These results showed that noise exposure poses a risk for the workers in the selected flour- mills and precautions should be taken for these workers.
