Evaluation of microbial antagonists and essential oils in the control of Sclerotium cepivorum in garlic under controlled conditions

Show more

“…The microbial biomass of liquid biopesticides has a larger inhibition zone than the biochemical content. Other studies have also proven the effect of antagonistic microbes in inhibiting the growth of the phytopathogen with inhibition up to 95%, higher than the inhibition of oregano and eucalyptus essential oils, which is 92% [41]. This is related to the mode of action of antagonistic microbes, which is specific or has a narrow range of pest species [42].…”

“…This saprophytic aerobic fungus produces a great variety of metabolites, including enzymes such as cellulases, glucanases and chitinases (Cotes 2011). Due to the production of these enzymes, T. koningiopsis Th003 can degrade sclerotia from phytopathogenic fungi such as R. solani, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Sclerotium cepivorum (Smith et al 2013;Zapata et al 2020). Th003 is the active ingredient of the waterdispersible granules formulated bio-fungicide TRICOTEC® WG.…”
