Evaluation of mechanical properties and surface roughness of cotton–viscose hybrid composite

Abstract: Natural-fibre reinforced composite material is an emerging material that has great potential to be used in various industrial aspects and applications. The cotton-viscose-reinforced composite is prepared using a compression moulding process. In addition to it, analysis of its mechanical properties was also carried out, such as tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength and hardness. An attempt was made to process the prepared composite material using abrasive water jet machining (AWJM) under differen… Show more

“…CF reinforced with unsaturated polyester outperforms other cotton/coir fibre reinforced with unsaturated polyester combinations in terms of mechanical qualities for packaging applications. The cotton–viscose hybrid composite was mechanically characterised by Arunkumar and Murugarajan 96 . According to the findings, hybridization improves the mechanical properties of a cotton viscose-reinforced composite material.…”

“…Optimization of processing variables like pulse on time, peak current, wire feed rate, and B4C % have already been explored in WEDM research. The AA (6351) strengthened with 5 wt % of SiC and with various weight content of B4C is fabricated through the stir casting process [10]. There was a significant correlation between pulse on time and kerf breadth.…”

“…In recent years, researchers were largely focused on utilizing composite materials in several applications owing to their formability, renewability, and environmental friendly. However, numerous studies on polymer composites were carried on a laboratory scale and have not been explored for large‐scale commercial applications [1]. Fibres were used extensively as the reinforcement for these polymer composites and these fibres were found abundant in India, especially the natural fibres.…”
