Evaluation of Marginal/Internal Fit and Fracture Load of Monolithic Zirconia and Zirconia Lithium Silicate (ZLS) CAD/CAM Crown Systems

Abstract: Fit accuracy and fracture strength of milled monolithic zirconia (Zi) and zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate (ZLS) crowns are important parameters determining the success of these restorations. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the marginal and internal fit of monolithic Zi and ZLS crowns, along with the fracture load, with and without mechanical aging. Thirty-two stone dies acquired from a customized master metal molar die were scanned, and ceramic crowns (16 Zi Ceramill Zolid HT+ and 16 ZLS Vita Sup… Show more

“…Although statistically significant differences were found in MG between the PICN (36 µm) and LDS (57 µm) crowns in this investigation, the magnitude of the disparity was small and the clinical significance of such a difference is unknown. The mean AMD values were markedly higher than the MG values in this paper for both the materials, in line with the findings of previous studies [7,9,15].…”

“…Absolute values of AMDs were used in this study for data analysis. The AMDs generally represent the aggregate of vertical and horizontal marginal discrepancies at any given location at the crown-abutment junction [15]. However, the AMD values do not reflect the negative or positive overhang at an examined site, and this could be considered a minor limitation of the study.…”
