Evaluation of lncRNA Expression Pattern and Potential Role in Heart Failure Pathology

Xiatian Chen,
Chengzhen Shi,
Jinning Gao
et al.

Abstract: During the last few decades, the morbidity and mortality of heart failure (HF) have remained on an upward trend. Despite the advances in therapeutic and diagnostic measures, there are still many aspects requiring further research. This study is aimed at finding potential long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) that could aid with the diagnosis and treatment of HF. We performed RNA sequencing on the peripheral blood of healthy controls as well as HF patients. The expression of lncRNAs was validated by RT-qPCR. Bioinforma… Show more

“…Five signi cantly differentially expressed lncRNAs between our study groups with and without DM, namely NEAT1, XIST, MIR222HG, MIR100HG, HIF1A-AS3, and MIR29B2CHG, have already been associated with CVDs 30,[39][40][41][42][43][44][45][46] , mainly with the proliferation, migration, apoptosis, and phenotypic switch of SMCs (Table 3) 39,44,45,[47][48][49] .…”

“…However, because the other isoforms affect the behaviour of SMCs, it can be assumed that HIF1A-AS3, signi cantly downregulated in the DMplus study group, might also affect the function of SMCs. The lncRNAs MIR100HG and MIR29B2CHG have only been mentioned in the context of cardiomyopathy and heart failure 40,46 . So far, there is no information about their potential role in PAD, DM or SMCs.…”
