ÖZAmaç: Bu çalışmada larenks kanseri nedeniyle total larenjektomi (TL) veya parsiyel larenjektomi (PL) uygulanan hastaların ameliyat sonrası yaşam kaliteleri değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Hastaların %34.5'i 61-70 yaş arası, %86.2'si erkek ve %87.9'u ameliyat öncesi sigara kullanmış idi. Hastaların %32.8'ine TL ve %51.7'sine iki taraflı boyun diseksiyonu uygulandı. EORTC QLQ-C30 genel sağlık durumu alt boyutunda TL veya PL uygulanan hastaların değerleri arasında farklılık saptanmadı. EORTC QLQ-C30 fiziksel fonksiyon, uğraş fonksiyonu ve diğer alt boyutları ve EORTC QLQ-H&N35 yutma problemleri, duyusal problemler, konuşma problemleri, sosyal ortamda yeme sıkıntısı, cinsel isteksizlik, tükürük yapışkanlığı, kendini hasta hissetme, beslenme hortumu kullanma alt boyutlarında PL veya TL uygulanan hastaların değerleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık saptandı. Sonuç: Total larenjektomi uygulanan hastaların yaşam kaliteleri PL uygulanan hastalardan daha düşük idi. Tedavi yaklaşımlarına katkıda bulunmak için daha büyük örneklemli ve farklı cerrahi tedavileri uygulanan hastaların yaşam kalitelerinin karşılaştırıldığı ileri çalışmalara gereksinim vardır.Anahtar Sözcükler: Larenks karsinoması; larenks cerrahisi; yaşam kalitesi. ABSTRACTObjectives: This study aims to evaluate the postoperative quality of life of patients who were administered total laryngectomy (TL) or partial laryngectomy (PL) for laryngeal cancer. Patients and Methods:The study included 58 patients (50 males, 8 females; mean age 61.53 years; range 36 to 83 years) who were administered TL or PL for laryngeal cancer in Health Sciences University Tepecik Education and Research Hospital Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Clinic between November 2010 and December 2015. We obtained socio-demographic and clinical information from the patients and the hospital data base. We used European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-C30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) and EORTC QLQ-Head&Neck35 (EORTC QLQ-H&N35). We evaluated if there was any significant difference between patients who were administered TL or PL in terms of quality of life.Results: Of the patients, 34.5% were aged between 61 and 70, 86.2% were males and 87.9% were smoking preoperatively. Of the patients, TL was applied in 32.8% and bilateral neck dissection was applied in 51.7%. We detected no difference between the values of patients who were administered TL or PL in the EORTC QLQ-C30 general health status subdimension. We detected a statistically significant difference between the values of patients who were administered TL or PL in EORTC QLQ-C30 physical function, occupational function and other subdimensions and EORTC QLQ-H&N35 subdimensions of swallowing problems, sensory problems, speech problems, eating disorders in social environment, lack of sexual drive, saliva stickiness, feeling of sickness and usage of feeding hose.Conclusion: Quality of life of patients who were administered TL was lower than patients who were administered PL.
