Ethiopia is investing in Oil Palm cultivation to minimize palm oil imports from other countries. Our aim was to analyze the potential land suitability for oil palm tree cultivation by using geospatial technology with an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) in the Jejeba watershed, Western Ethiopia. Ten parameters such as, land use land cover (LULC), land surface temperature (LST), agro-ecological zone (AEZ), slope, rainfall, soil types, soil texture, soil drainage, soil depth and road were aggregated and reclassified according to their suitability to evaluate potential land for oil palm cultivation in the study. In the presnt study, ArcGIS 10.3, ERDAS 2015, and ArcSWAT software were used. Results show that about 36.7 km2 (1.3%) was highly suitable for palm oil cultivation. Consiquentially,1780.5 km2 (64.8%) was moderately suitable for oil palm cultivation whereas, about 25.2 km2 (0.9%) of the study area was not suitable for oil palm cultivation. The southeastern part was highly suitable, whereas some eastern and northern parts of the study area were not suitable for oil palm cultivation. Therefore, government and non-governmental organizations should raise awareness among local communities to support oil palm cultivation in the study area. Further studies should be carried out, especially on the importance of soil PH, aspect, and proximity to markets should be investigated to understand the most suitable areas for Oil Palm cultivation in the western parts of Ethiopia.

Growing demands for sustainable and ecological nanoparticle synthesis methods have incentivized the scientific community to develop new approaches to counteract these challenges. Green synthesis resorts to biocomponents obtained from plants, bacteria, fungi, and other organisms to synthesize nanostructures, with beneficial gains in the economic and ecological cost associated with the process, simplicity of the process, and resource efficiency. Moringa oleifera, a native plant originally from India with immense nutritive value, has long been used by researchers in the biosynthesis of nanoparticles. Leaves, flowers, bark, and seeds are among the “miracle tree” parts that can be used in nanoparticle green synthesis. Moringa oleifera seed cake, a by-product obtained from defatted seeds, is often overlooked due to its apparent low commercial value. The main objective of this review is to highlight the recent findings reported in the literature on nanoparticles/nanocomposites synthesized with seed cake biocompounds acting as reducing/capping agents. Furthermore, we analyzed the methods currently employed for the extraction of bioactive compounds. Moringa oleifera seed for industrial applications was also addressed.

As agricultural land resources scarce, food security has emerged as a pressing global concern. Conducting a suitability assessment of agricultural land is crucial for agricultural resources and food security. To establish an evaluation index system, we incorporated land, water, climate, and society four dimensions of 16 indicators. And we incorporated Entropy Weight Method (EWM), an objective method, with integrated evaluation model to assess agricultural land suitability in Yibin. Based on actual agricultural production, areas of land of urban construction, rural settlement and mining and water are subtracted. The Findings found that agricultural land suitability in Yibin presented a significant spatial heterogeneity. Areas with suitability and relative suitability accounted for 57.61% of Yibin’s land areas, which suggest Yibin has an abundance of agricultural land resources. Regions moderately suitable predominantly lie in the western and southern areas, covering 32.22% of the land area. Generally suitable areas accounted for 10.03% of Yinbin’s land areas, spatial distribution of which is similar to moderately suitable regions. Moderately and generally areas are potential areas for agricultural production. And regions for unsuitable accounted for only 0.14% of land areas. Overall, results mentioned above indicate that Yibin's agricultural land resources are in good condition. Considered terrain and water sources, this study revealed that the spatial distribution of topography and annual precipitation in Yibin closely mirrored both suitable and relatively suitable regions.
