“…A number of studies have demonstrated a potent cholinesterase inhibitory eff ect of various Citrus species, particularly against AChE, such as C. unshiu (12), C. paradisi (13), C. junos (14), C. medica 'Diamante' (15), C. hystrix (16), C. depressa (17), C. aurantifolia, C. aurantium and C. ber gamia (18)(19)(20), C. maxima, C. paradisi, C. limon, C. sinensis and C. reticulata (21)(22)(23). The health eff ects of Citrus fruits have been principally att ributed to the existence of phenolic compounds including fl avonoids and phenolic acids.…”

“…Moreover, citrus essential oils have been classified as generally recognised as safe GRAS due to their wide spectrum of biological activities such as antimicrobial 9 , antifungal 10 , antioxidant 11 , anti-inflammatory and anxiolytic 12 , Information concerning in vitro antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of the essential oil from the flowers of C. aurantium L. has not been reported earlier. This study was aimed to investigate the antibacterial, anti-fungal and antioxidant activities of C. aurantium essential oil CaEO .…”

“…FTIR spectra indicated that the different functional groups (O-H, C-H, C=O and C-OH) were used for bio-reduction of the precursors along with shape evolution and stabilization of NPs. Citrus peels principally consist of citric acid, ascorbic acid along with different polyphenolic compounds (flavonoid and phenolic acid), with excellent reducing properties [31,32]. These components mainly contain carboxyl and hydroxyl groups.…”

“…The observed negative ζ potential of NPs also suggested capping of NPs by bioorganic compounds. Citrus peel represented a complex storehouse of many antioxidant bio-organic compounds like citric acid, ascorbic acid and polyphenolic compounds [31,32]. The -OH and C=O groups of these bio-organic compounds showed strong ability to bind metal ions [33].…”
