Abstract:The scalability of lithium‐sulfur batteries can be improved by implementing them as lithium polysulfide flow batteries (LPSFBs). However, a low specific capacity and rapid capacity fading are observed in these flow batteries. We discovered that this deficiency can be addressed by using a hybrid anode. The hybrid anode consists of a lithiated graphite felt and a Li metal. The former serves as the buffer in lithiation and delithiation to shift most of the parasitic reactions that normally occur on Li to lithiate… Show more
The positive roles of dissolved polysulfides in Li–S electrochemistry are discussed, followed by a progress summary of alkali metal-polysulfide (redox flow) batteries.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
