Evaluation of gliomas peritumoral diffusion and prediction of IDH1 mutation by IVIM-DWI

Abstract: Glioma characterized by high morbidity and mortality, is one of the most common brain tumors. The application of intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI) in differentiating glioma grading and IDH1 mutation status were poorly investigated. 78 glioma patients confirmed by pathological and imaging methods were enrolled. Glioma patients were measured using IVIM-DWI, then related parameters such as cerebral blood flow (CBF), perfusion fraction (f), pseudo diffusivity (D*), and true diffusi… Show more

“…The AXR BBB overestimates k bo , but this is relatively small in normal‐appearing tissue 14 . For tumor regions in HGGs, the vascular density increases and the f f eq can be as large as 40%, which is in accordance with that the AXR BBB is larger than k bo measured in tumor region 27 …”

“…14 For tumor regions in HGGs, the vascular density increases and the f f eq can be as large as 40%, which is in accordance with that the AXR BBB is larger than k bo measured in tumor region. 27 In the HGGs, the DCE-MRI and VEXI showed consistent and similar decreases in WEX BBB speeds in the tumor compared with those in the cNAWM. The slower WEX BBB in the HGG was consistent with that of previous studies using DCE-MRI.…”

“…Third, the habitat analysis approach involving diffusion model development could only explore the heterogeneity of glioma in a single dimension, as there was a lack of information related to perfusion models or metabolic images. We have considered perfusion modeling for inclusion in subsequent studies ( 33 ). Finally, some new state-of-the-art diffusion models should be tried to be analyzed, even if short-term studies do not prove their practical superiority ( 34 ).…”

“…Also, like ASL [11], IVIM allows for the characterization of microvascular perfusion within the tumor. Previous studies have already reported the success of IVIM in glioma grading [12][13][14][15][16][17][18].…”
