Evaluation of geotechnical properties of fused quartz for transparent material

Abstract: Transparent soil surrogates permit nonintrusive three-dimensional deformational measurements in geotechnical model tests. Fused quartz saturated with a matched refractive index oil blend is an appropriate surrogate for natural sands.
