“…We included 102 studies with a total of 8830 patients (Figure 1). Eighty‐six studies (84%) were clinical trials 13–98 and 16 (14%) were observational studies 99–114 . Nine studies (7%) were only available in the form of a conference abstract; seven clinical trials and two observational studies 88–93,96,100,107 .…”

“…The most frequently assessed patient‐centred adverse events in both ICU and non‐ICU setting were adverse events related to the cardiovascular system ( n = 26) 13,15,17,19,22,29,36,37,42–44,53,59,65,67,68,76,77,80,82,83,87,99,107,112,113 including mean blood pressure, heart rate, arrhythmias, changes in electrocardiogram and QT‐prolongation. This was followed by different GI symptoms, which were assessed in 24 studies 13,14,26,29,32,34,36,38,40,47,49,53,54,59,65,67,69,74,76,80,83,99,110,112 .…”

“…One study demonstrated a dose–response relationship for the effect of domperidone [ 19 ]. A recently published parallel-group trial on patients with septic shock showed no significant difference in terms of gastric electrical rhythm measured by surface electrogastrography [ 20 ]. Taken together, the present study indicates the potential for domperidone administered via the feeding tube in the treatment of patients with EFI, but the optimal dose, route of administration, and comparable dose of metoclopramide should be taken into consideration when designing future studies.…”

“…Our study was motivated by previous evidence that core disgust images reduce normogastric activity, 11,12 although domperidone restores normogastric activity. 18 We predicted that gastric dysrhythmias may be one important cause of disgust avoidance. We report that domperidone reduces oculomotor avoidance of disgusting images after an exposure intervention.…”
