Evaluation of Construction Site Noise to Allow the Optimisation of Construction Processes and Construction Machinery Selection

Abstract: During the pre-construction phase of an investment project, a construction plan is usually prepared by the building contractor. It contains financial plans, schedules, technical regulations with working procedures and proposals for the deployment of construction machinery and work teams. These items are then optimised in order to save money, shorten construction time and increase the quality of the final work while ensuring environmental and safety standards are maintained at the site. The ecological aspects o… Show more

“…The outputs of this paper are a supporting process for 5D BIM (construction budget) and 6D BIM (construction technology and quality). The results of the work presented in this paper have a direct impact on economic [7] and environmental sustainability [8][9][10], which can be achieved in the phase of construction preparation. As part of this research work, another plan is to design suitable software to increase these effects.…”

“…The investigated construction stages were typically concentrated on earthworks [19], main structure construction, or the operational phases of subways [3]. Furthermore, existing studies on the identification of noise sources primarily focused on common construction machinery, such as excavators, pile drivers, and cutting machines [20]. There are two significant differences between the noise issues in enclosure construction and other projects.…”

“…The noise absorption metamaterials can achieve wideband and low frequency noise absorption through parametric design. However, for variable noise, such as construction noise [24,25] and aviation noise [26][27][28], the building noise may come from different noise sources at different time periods, and the aircraft shows different noise spectrum during takeoff and landing. For this case, the broadband noise control may not solve the problem of random noise with discrete peak spectrum, and it will also lead to redundancy in the spatial size of the broadband sound absorption material composed of multiple units.…”
