Abstract:A new scheme for defining coincidence planes in positron emission tomography (PET) with the aim of improving the overall uniformity in volumetric spatial resolution has been investigated. The axial resolution in high-resolution PET systems rapidly degrades at off-center positions, in particular in tangential direction. This resolution loss is caused by the addition of coincidence planes with relatively large ring differences to form a single detection plane. In this paper, a different way of defining coinciden… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
