Abstract: Background Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic mucocutaneous inflammatory disease. Its etiology remains unknown and may be caused by a cell-mediated immunological response, where autoreactive cytotoxic T lymphocytes are the effector cells, which cause degeneration and destruction of keratinocytes.
