“…21,24,25 CBCT can provide a 3D view of periodontal bone situation, and therefore CBCT may be a useful and practical tool for the clinical evaluation of periodontal bone changes over time. 26,28,29 However, compared with the plain two-dimensional periapical or bitewing radiographs, the big challenge for CBCT images to evaluate alveolar bone levels is how to find the same measuring site after a period of time.…”

“…There are some limitations to an in vitro study, in which only the imaging test was evaluated, but not clinical parameters such as gingival bleeding, periodontal probing, gingival recession, history of trauma or orthodontic therapy, which can help in the diagnosis of bone dehiscence. In our study, the design favoured optimal detection because only one skull with simulated soft‐tissue attenuation was used as reported by Ferreira et al . Another limitation of the study is the wax used to simulate the gingival tissue.…”

“…The teeth did not show any fractures, dental anomalies or restorations. To simulate the effect of the presence of soft tissues on the attenuation of the X‐radiation beam and resultant image quality, the previous methodology proposed by Ferreira et al . was used in which the skull was covered by wax in both jaws and was submerged in water for 24 h prior to image acquisition.…”

“…Muito embora a medição da crista alveolar já ter sido realizada e também discutida neste capítulo, optou-se por avaliar de maneira subjetiva o recobrimento radicular vestibular e lingual. A medição subjetiva já foi relatada na literatura anteriormente, porém para avaliação de dentes anteriores (FERREIRA et al, 2013). al., 1986;KINGMAN, 1999;SUSIN et al, 2004 (TERSIN, 1978).…”
