Acalypha indica Linn. (Family; Euphorbiaceae), commonly known as Indian copper leaf in English and other vernacular names includes, Kuppameni, Kuppi and Harittamanjari. The whole plant of A. indica is used in the traditional medicinal system to treat various diseases. In Ayurveda, A. indica used as a laxative, anthelmintic, emetic, expectorant and also used to treat scabies, earache, syphilitic ulcers and snake bites. In Siddha medicine, A. indica is used to treat diseases associated with teeth and gums, stomach aches, irritations, burns, wheezing and respiratory diseases. This plant has been studied for antidiabetic, wound healing, postcoital infertility, antivenom, antiulcer, antimalarial, anti inflammatory, antimicrobial, alphaamylase inhibitor, neuroprotective and antioxidant activities. Hence the current study has been assumed to explicate the anxiolytic and anticonvulsant effect of methanolic extract of Acalypha indica Linn. MATERIALS AND METHODS Plant material The whole plant of Acalypha indica was collected from Hyderabad, Telangana in November and was identified taxonomically and authenticated by P. Suresh Babu, Head Department of Botany, New Government Degree College, Kukatpally. Preparation of methanolic extract The whole plant of Acalypha indica was collected, cleaned, dried under shade for about six days and coarsely powdered in a mixer grinder. Background: Dyslipidemia is a major public health issue in developed and developing countries, and it is a major risk factor for ischemic heart disease, atherosclerosis, and cerebrovascular accidents. The current trend is most of the antihyperlipidemic drugs like atorvastatin, fibrates, statins, nicotinic acid, probucol, and other chemical formulations were extensively used to treat hyperlipidemia clinically. The because of their serious adverse effects including diarrhea, nausea, myositis, and altered liver functions with statins and their use is restricted. Fragaria vesca is commonly consumed by the population in a routine lifestyle.and it has lipid-lowering properties Hence, the present study is planned to investigate the hypolipidemic activity of Fragaria vesca fruit extract on high-fat diet-induced hyperlipidemia in Wistar albino rats was studied. Material and Methods: In all groups except Group -I, a high-fat diet was given orally. The study included sixty-six male Wistar albino rats weighing 180-200 gm. After one week of growth, the animals were divided into eleven groups, each group contain six Wistar albino rats, and they were randomly assigned. Fragaria vesca fruit extractwas given orally and estimated body weight, lipid profile, and blood sugar levels were in all the groups before and after the induced fat model in Wistar albino rats. Results: According to the findings, ellagicacid (500mg/kg per oral for 4 weeks), Fragaria vesca (500mg/kg per oral for 4 weeks), tocopherol (500mg/kg per oral for 4 weeks), zinc oxide FV (250mg/kg per oral for 4 weeks), zinc oxide FV (500mg/kg per oral for 4 weeks) were effective into decreases Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, and LDL and Increasing HDL in the management of hyperlipidemia. Conclusion: The study concluded that the Phytochemical compound of Fragaria vesca showed a significant decrease in the levels of lipid profile Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, LDL, and Increased HDL in high fat-induced hyperlipidemic Wistar albino rats.

Plants form an integral part of daily life of human beings. The term ethnobotany refers to relationships and interactions between people and plants. Worldwide, plants are being used as sources of food, medicine, dyes, and timber. Traditional medicinal practitioners and indigenous systems of medicine (such as Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani) make use of several plant species to treat a range of ailments of humans and livestock. The therapeutic potential of plants lies in the presence of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, terpenes, and polyphenolic compounds. Azima tetracantha Lam., belonging to the family Salvadoraceae, is a small, armed shrub with quadrangular branches. The present review is a compilation of available data on the ethnomedicinal uses, phytochemistry, and pharmacological activities of A. tetracantha. Phytochemical investigations on the plant revealed the presence of chemicals such friedelin, euphanol, gallic acid, genstisic acid, cinnamate, ferulic acid, azimine, azcarpine, and carpaine. An extensive literature survey was carried out to compile data on traditional uses, phytochemicals, and the pharmacological activities shown by A. tetracantha. It is evident from the literatures that the plant is versatile with respect to its traditional uses as a remedy for various illnesses and disorders in humans and animals. The plant is used for treatment of asthma, cold, cough, rheumatism, diabetes, dysentery, fever, toothache, dog bite, snake bite, and liver diseases. It is experimentally shown that the plant exhibits pharmacological activities such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, antivenom, hepatoprotective, antiepileptic, diuretic, antiulcer, antiasthmatic, antidiarrheal, analgesic, nephroprotective, antipyretic, and insecticidal activity. The nanoparticles synthesized from A. tetracantha have shown antimicrobial, antioxidant, and insecticidal properties. A pentacyclic triterpenoid friedelin isolated from the plant is shown to exhibit many bioactivities such as antimicrobial, hypolipidemic, antidiarrheal, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, insecticidal, gastroprotective and antiradical activity. The therapeutic potential and pharmacological properties of A. tetracantha could be ascribed to the presence of a wide array of phytochemicals in it. The pharmacological activities of the plant reported justify the traditional use of A. tetracantha in treating several diseases or disorders.
